Bouhachem Natural Park
A 33,000-hectare nature park in the heart of the Western Rif mountains. Facing the city of Chefchaouen, Bouhachem jbel (mountain) is a vast project initiated by the Tangier-Tetouan region, a project that aims to conserve biodiversity and encourage sustainable development, but also a means of combating climate change.
Known for its Mediterranean climate, the Bouhachem massif receives significant rainfall, up to 2,000 mm per year, making this region one of the most watered in Morocco. The Bouhachem Park referees a mountain of the same name (Jbel Bouhachem) with an altitude of 1658 m.
The park is currently home to 33 species of mammals, 91 species of birds and 29 species of reptiles. Among the omnipresent species in this park, we can mention :
- ZĂ©naie (Quercus faginea)
- Tauzaie (Quercus pyrenaica)
- Cedar forest (Cedrus atlantica)
- Pine forest (Pinus pinaster ssp. Maghrebina)
- Suberaie (Quercus suber)
